Citroen presents the most technologically advanced Berlingo
The new Citroen Berlingo, with this third generation, has put its cards back on the table, demonstrating that few models are capable of competing with it in the Spanish market. Unsurprisingly, the French brand is not satisfied with what it already knows works, but always tries to renew itself by offering customers what they need most at all times.
On this occasion, Citroen has opted for a design that is close to the SUV universe and for a practical vocation that allows it to be the ideal companion for day-to-day challenges, weekend adventures or summer holidays in the mountains or on the beach.
For this, the new Berlingo has had to incorporate improvements in all aspects. As a result, it stands out for its manoeuvrability, lighter weight and high technological level, with no less than 19 driving assistance functions.
In addition, with the intention of increasing comfort, a specific adjustment of the suspensions has been made. Not to mention the connectivity section, which now includes new features such as the wireless recharging system for smartphones.
Pablo Puey himself, Citroen's general manager for Spain and Portugal, says " Citroen Berlingo has led the commercial vehicle market fourteen times since its launch in 1996 is not a matter of luck.
“Its versatility, interior space, comfort and adaptability make it an ideal vehicle for day-to-day and leisure travel with family and friends.
“Today, Berlingo gives a new meaning to the word ‘polyvalence’. "
The new generation anticipates people's needs by offering useful technologies, connectivity, and a unique, modern design. Its customisation possibilities also allow for the creation of a vehicle as unique as the people on board," he adds.
When Citroen launched the Berlingo in 1996, the vans that filled the streets were nothing more than a passenger car with a loading area at the rear for transporting goods. The French manufacturer turned the concept upside down by modernising this type of vehicle.
Citroen, in its quest to go even further, wanted to create a range of products that met people's needs, because simply adding cargo space in a utility vehicle was not enough.
The Citroen Berlingo was created as a solution. Now, after more than two decades on the market and more than 3.3 million units sold, it is transformed to offer more style, more comfort and dynamic qualities with its third generation.
In 2017, the Berlingo became the best-selling Citroen model in 17 countries, including Spain, as well as the second most commercially successful model worldwide, behind the Citroen C3.
With this new Berlingo, the firm is betting on a vehicle that represents the intelligent purchase for those who look for a different and attractive model and want above all volume and practicality, without renouncing design, comfort, technology and modernity.
The model is available in two sizes, M and XL, with five and seven seats. Both versions have an unmistakable silhouette, with an advanced windscreen and a higher and shorter front hood, which allows the length of the overhang to be reduced for greater habitability.
This Berlingo stands out for its modern and elegant image, both outside and inside, where it has opted for maximum modularity, with three folding seats in the rear.
The cabin has 28 stowage spaces, with milestones such as the new generation of the Modutop roof, which also offers greater luminosity, and the Top Box glove box, made possible by the Airbag in Roof.
The new Citroen Berlingo is available in three finish levels -Live, Feel and Shine- although the range is fully equipped from the first level.
Nineteen assistance functions make life easier for the person behind the wheel. Standard features include the Active Lane Involuntary Change Warning, Coffe Break Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Active Safety Brake and Hill Assist.
This third generation has a wide range of new engines, PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel. Both stand out for their efficiency, in addition to offering the possibility of enjoying the comfort provided by the EAT8 automatic gearbox.
The new Berlingo is available from 14,990 euros, with gift of 3D navigator Citroen Connect Nav on touch screen and Citroën Connect Box, which includes emergency call and assistance through GPS.
