Can you have more than one WhatsApp account on the same device?

WhatsApp is the well-known mobile messaging application used by over 1.5 billion people worldwide. It’s easy to use and compatible with almost all smartphones, which is perhaps why it’s so popular. Many people have more than one device these days, perhaps a mobile and tablet for example - this leads to questions such as, can you have the same WhatsApp account on more than one device? Or can you have multiple WhatsApp accounts on one device?

Many people use more than one WhatsApp account to manage their personal and professional communications. As the demand for multi use phone increased, numerous Android smartphones now the functionality to insert two sim cards into the same phone, allowing the user to use two different phone numbers on the same device. 

According to WhatsApp, officially speaking - a WhatsApp account can only “be verified with one number one device.” However, companies including Samsung and Huawei now offer a Dual App option or Dual Mode feature, this means it is actually possible to have two accounts for WhatsApp on the same phone.  

It is important to remember that if you are using a dual SIM, you must select only one number to verify your WhatsApp account. It is not possible to verify your WhatsApp account on the same device with more than one number. If you frequently try to switch WhatsApp accounts between different devices you may find that you will be blocked from re-verifying your account.

To use the Dual WhatsApp feature on a single android mobile device you need to open the Dual Apps configuration option on your chosen android smartphone and select the application you want to be duplicated -  in this case it would be WhatsApp. 

Return your homepage and click the second duplicated WhatsApp logo, from there you can set up WhatsApp with a second phone number.
